In keeping with our mission of “Educational Excellence in a Personal Environment,” you’ll enjoy the benefits of a student-to-faculty ratio of only about 18 to 1. Nationally recognized undergraduate research experiences and innovative technology will be at your fingertips.

Based on a liberal arts foundation, our broad undergraduate and graduate curriculum offers 109 programs of study at the bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctoral levels. Study abroad, online and off-campus offerings expand your learning opportunities, and if you’re up for a real challenge, the university is home to Georgia’s only Honors College.

UWG offers a complete college experience featuring campus living, NCAA Division II athletics, fraternities and sororities, and about 100 other student organizations on a beautiful, wooded 645-acre campus only 50 miles west of Atlanta, GA. You’ll have access to a wide range of professional work experiences, cultural activities and entertainment both in Atlanta and our hometown of Carrollton, a regional economic center.

When I first came to UWG I didn't know what to expect. Throughout my stay however, I came to learn so much. UWG offers way more than academics. Teachers bring real world experiences to the classroom and advisors serve as great resources to help students in assessing their academic and social potentials. There are also many workshops where we can meet local professionals from different sectors.

Being a part of the International Student Club is a huge part of campus life. The club is an interactive community that hosts different fun activities and the members are more like a family. If you're looking for a friendly place away from home, Go West!

Admissions

How hard is it to get in?

"Total" shows the total number of applicants for a spot in the incoming freshman class for the last year reported.

"Admitted" shows the number of those applicants that were accepted and offered a place at the college or university, both in raw numbers and as a percentage of the total number who applied.

"Enrolled" shows the number of accepted applicants that actually enrolled and chose to attend the college or university, both in raw numbers and as a percentage of the total who applied.

Applicants Total Percentage
Total 6,159
Admitted 3,589 58.3%
Enrolled 2,050 33.3%

Completions

How many students graduate or transfer?

"Graduation Rate" shows the percentage of students from a particular incoming freshman class that stay at the school for their full studies and graduate; the "Transfer Rate" shows the percentage of students from a particular incoming freshman class that transfer to another college or university.

Type Percentage
Graduation Rate 36.8%
Transfer-Out Rate 25%

Test Scores

What ACT/SAT scores do I need to get in?

Many colleges and universities in the US require either the SAT or the ACT, both standardized tests that help schools evaluate candidates.

In this chart, you can see how the middle portion of students admitted to the school fared on these tests—those from the 25th to the 75th percent of all accepted candidates. In other words, the chart does not show how the bottom 25% of all accepted candidates scored, and it does not show how the top 25% of all accepted candidates scored—but it shows how the middle half of candidates accepted to the school scored.

If you have taken the SAT or ACT, or you plan to, you can see where your score falls in comparison to this range, which will help you evaluate your likelihood of acceptance to this school.

Test 25th Percentile 75th Percentile
SAT Verbal 460 540
SAT Math 450 540
ACT Composite 18 22
ACT Math 17 22
ACT English 18 22

Student Body

How many international students are there?

This chart shows the total number of students at the school, the total number of international students and percentage of total enrollment, as well as breakdowns for male and female international students.

Students Total Percentage

Tuition & Expenses

How much does it cost?

This chart shows the latest tuition and expense figures published by the school, for out-of-state students—as typically international students pay the out-of-state tuition costs.

The figures assume the student will be living on-campus with full university room and board. Off-campus students could spend more or less, depending on their situation.

Category Cost
Tuition (Out of State) $15,226
Room & Board (On Campus) $5,714
Books & Supplies $1,000
Other Expenses $3,880
Total $25,820

Financial Aid

Do students receive financial aid?

There are three pieces of data in this table, which are designed to show how likely it is that an international student will receive any financial aid from the college or university.

"Undergrads receiving any aid" shows the percentage of first-time undergraduate students who receive any type of financial aid. However, many types of financial aid at US colleges and universities are not available to international students—like Pell Grants, Stafford loans and other federal loan programs.

The second piece of data, "Undergrads receiving school grants", shows the percentage of first-time undergraduate students that receive aid directly from the school—often this type of aid is available to international students.

"Average amount of school grant" shows the average amount that is provided in this category of aid, that may be available to international students.

Category Aid
Undergrads Receiving Any Aid 94%
Undergrads Receiving School Grant 5%
Average Amount of School Grant $2,888
