University of South Dakota

We’re South Dakota’s flagship university. The affordable, Division I institution with a small town feel. USD offers 198 undergraduate and 78 graduate programs, and is home to 400+ faculty members. Aside from a few introductory courses, time in the classroom is spent with faculty members, not graduate teaching assistants. Undergraduate students benefit from small class sizes with a student to faculty ratio of 15:1. Most importantly, USD is a fully-accredited public institution that was ranked by College Board (the makers of the SAT) as the most affordable flagship university in the United States. In fact, USD’s international tuition is the fifth-lowest among schools nationally ranked by US News and World Report! Vermillion serves as a very safe, welcoming, and walkable home for students. USD hosts a diverse student body from over 50 countries, offering students plenty of opportunities to expand their horizons and make new friends. Lastly, the International Office provides comprehensive support such as airport transfers, compliance advising, employment help, and regional trips to the scenic Black Hills, among other destinations.
