December Edition #250

With the last month of the year comes our last newsletter of the year. It’s bittersweet that we wrap up 2019 and turn to what is ahead of us as we have a lot to look forward to 2020. In this newsletter, we have included information on our Travel Video Contest winners, financial aid - including our newly launched scholarship program, and what you can expect this holiday season. Travel Video Contest Winners!

Our 2019 Travel Video Contest has come to an end and we couldn’t be more excited to announce the Grand Prize winner: Ayush Rai! Ayush was chosen by our panel of judges to win a prize of $4,000 and plans on using his prize money to study visual effects in Canada. Congratulations, Ayush! We would also like to congratulate the other outstanding winners:

  1. $500 Second-place winner - Sebastian Carrillo
  2. $250 Third-place winner - Anna Singatulina
  3. $1,000 Viewer’s Choice Winner - Sofía Celine Noriega Ramos
  4. $500 GoAbroad Choice winner - Tatiana Soskina

Central America Scholarship Program

The MPOWER/InternationalStudent.com Central America Scholarship Program application is now open! We have partnered with MPOWER Financing to give three deserving Central American students the opportunity to pursue higher education in the United States. One recipient will be awarded $3,000 and two honorable mentions will be awarded $1,000. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you can enter right now online by submitting the necessary documents including an essay that answers:

  1. How you have already contributed to creating opportunity, improving the quality of life, and/or advocating for and empowering marginalized communities in your home country and/or within Central America
  2. How you will continue to do so after your education is completed
  3. How your education will directly affect your ability to affect these goals

Submit your application on or before the deadline, January 31st, 2020. Eligibility requirements and more information about the scholarship program are available on our website.
