Tip Of The Month: Preparing For NAFSA!

NAFSA is just a couple of weeks away and if you’re like us - you’ve spent lots of time preparing! If you could still use a few tips on how to get ready here are our top three suggestions before heading to Philly.

  1. Navigate Philadelphia - Be mobile around Philly by having the latest version of Google Maps installed as an app on either your Android or iPhone. Google Maps is especially useful since you can get the walking route and see public transit route options. Don’t get lost and risk missing a reception - update your Maps!

  2. Attend the Plenary Speaker Sessions - Every year NAFSA has some brilliant, inspirational speakers! This year the tradition continues with some well-spoken individuals you don’t want to miss:

  3. Attend the Sexual Assault Training for International Students - This groundbreaking session won Best in Region at the Region X Conference last Fall. Yessica Prato, Marketing Coordinator at International Student Insurance (ISI) and newly-minted US citizen, will chair the session, “Sexual Assault Training for International Students.” This session features ISI’s free multimedia training materials for Sexual Assault Training for International Students, which hundreds of schools around the US are now using! We hope you can attend this session and if not, please feel free to download the training package.

  4. Sexual Assault Training for International Students Session
    Wednesday, May 30 from 2:30pm - 3:30pm, presented by:
    • Kati Lake, Vice President of Consulting Services at RAINN
    • Inga Mezale, Deputy Director of International Student Services at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY)
    • Cory Owen, Assistant Dean of International Advisement & Diversity Initiatives at The Juilliard School
    • Yessica Prato, Marketing Coordinator at International Student Insurance

Most importantly remember to enjoy yourself to get the most out of NAFSA 2018!

Client Tip Of The Month: Pace Yourself

"As a seasoned NAFSA annual conference attendee, I recommend you pace yourself when selecting which concurrent sessions to attend since there are so many good ones held at the same time! No worries since most of the sessions are recorded which you can download after the conference or maybe if your institution sends more than one staff member, then, you’re one of the lucky ones. I’ve always enjoy the plenary sessions since the speakers are awe-inspiring and helps me rejuvenate and reminds me why I stayed in the international education profession for so long. Don’t forget to visit the many exhibitors at the Expo Hall and be open-minded in meeting professionals from all over the world!"

We Are Preparing For GDPR, Are You?

With the May 25th deadline for compliance coming just before we take off for NAFSA, we have been busy ensuring that we are following the new rules. GDPR, or General Data Protection Regulation is causing waves for anyone gathering information on the web. Here are a few things we are doing to get into compliance:

  • Updating our privacy policies across all of our sites and ensuring it is available in the footer.
  • Updating all forms on our sites to be compliant for opt-in and consent.
  • Implementing a 2 factor-authorization for email and storage of data.
  • Updating the language in our agreements to ensure everyone involved is doing their part to be in compliance.

Let us know if you would like more information.
