PARTNER Newsletter

Last year at this time our team members had just returned from various conferences throughout the US, and a trip to Guatemala with School the World. The World Health Organization had announced the official name of COVID-19 just a month prior, and would soon characterize it as a pandemic. As we have all been through countless Zoom meetings, digital conferences, and webinars since then, we have grown accustomed to our new normal; but as accustomed as we have become- we look forward to the travel and in-person connections that seem not too far away. We said it a year ago, and we’ll say it again- until then, and with each turn, we will continue to work hard for you and the world of international education.

Tax Season Resources for International Students

With the tax deadline back on its usual day, April 15th, students have a little over a month to get their required forms mailed to the IRS. Students and their dependents will need to file Form 8843 regardless of whether they earned income in 2020 or not, and Form 1040-NR if they did work. We’ve updated our student tax return resources for the 2021 season to help guide your students as needed. Our resources include:

  • Form 8843 Wizard: Populates the completed form for students after they provide tax information
  • Tax Filing Step-by-Step: Detailed steps for filing taxes as an international student in the US
  • Student Tax FAQs : Answers to the top questions students ask us
  • Tax Preparation Videos: Common forms, questions answered and other helpful information to get through tax season

Feel free to pass along these resources to your students as needed.

New Consortium Package Available

We know that international education state consortia are always looking for ways to promote their member schools and help them find success. To assist in this process, we’ve updated our consortium package to provide member schools with perks including a free trial and discounts. If you’re a member of a state consortium and would like to see how our consortium package can provide your state and member schools with student interest, let us know!

Personalization in Subject Lines

When following up with your leads, have you tried adding personalization to your email subject lines? If not, it’s something you will want to explore! By simply adding a lead’s first name to your subject line you can help increase your opens. In fact, we ran a test to see just how much it could impact the open rate and found that our emails with the personalized subject line had an 11% higher open rate. If you would like other great tips to leverage your email communication, check out our guide on email marketing.
