At Bristol, every student automatically is a member of the Students’ Union, Bristol SU. SU offers confidential advice, student representation, and opportunities to get connected and be involved. Students are encouraged to relax on campus in our calming and sociable with others in the SU living rooms.

The SU is home to student-run, societies, ranging from gardening to skydiving. The societies include more than 50 country specific and religious societies encouraging students to share their culture and feel a bit closer to home.
Student networks
The Bristol SU networks allow students to build communities and influence change. The International Students Network is for all international students to come together through socials, campaigns, forums, and more. Students are free to join campus networks such as the BME Network, LGBT+ Network, or the Multifaith Network.
Sport and exercise
Bristol SU offers more than 70 sports clubs, intramural leagues, and inclusive exercise sessions. All skill levels are welcome, from beginner to competitor. Bristol Performance Squad supports student athletes so you can combine your sporting career with your academic studies.

Every university residence belongs to one of our residential villages. Each village has a Residential Life team of full-time trained support staff. They are there to give you expert help, support and advice 24-7.

Residences are communities offering a unique student experience.
Each residence has a JCR (Junior Common Room) which is a social committee led by students, elected from the current residents, that organises social and sporting events and represents the interest of students in the residence. Several residences host activities such as meal nights, theatrical performances, live music and dance events, from summer balls to silent discos.
The JCR also provides representation at Students Union Council meetings and helps students get involved with University-wide events and community initiatives.
Student Wellbeing Service provides help and guidance for students experiencing challenges. Bristol student wellbeing advisers work with academic personal tutors, supervisors and other staff to address any personal and emotional difficulties you might experience, helping you to make the most of your academic studies.
