Santa Fe University of Art and Design

Whether you’re exploring a traditional, analog art form or you want to push through the boundaries of what your medium means in today’s world, you’ll have the resources, mentorship, and encouragement that you need to make that happen. SFUAD will get you ready for the real world – but we’re also giving you the tools to rewrite what ‘real’ means.

The roots of Santa Fe University of Art and Design grow directly from New Mexico’s oldest chartered college, St. Michael’s College, which was founded in 1859 and granted a charter for higher education in 1874. St. Michael’s College changed its name to the College of Santa Fe in 1966, and enrolled its first female students in that same year. On August 30, 2010, the name of the college was changed to Santa Fe University of Art and Design. The new name reflected the mission and vision of the school while also recognizing and upholding the reputation of the college, students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Programs at the university combine practical experience with core theory, empowering students to develop a thorough understanding of their professional aspirations in contemporary music, creative writing, theatre, art, graphic design, film, photography, digital arts, and arts management.

Santa Fe University of Art and Design is a subsidiary of Laureate International Universities, a global network of more than 80 accredited campus-based and online universities offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs to more than 1 million students in over 28 countries. Our students are part of an international, academic community that spans 28 countries throughout North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia. Through this partnership, we are able to offer students unprecedented access to global education, internships and professional opportunities.
