Video Contest Winner |
 The 2013
InternationalStudent.com Travel Video Contest was a great
success!
Each year we look forward to the Travel
Video Contest, as it lets us see just how talented, passionate and
creative our students are. With over 100 entries, this year was the most
competitive ever. The videos were well-planned, well-written and
well-shot - we got to witness an amazing group of stories. The toughest
part of the contest is always choosing Finalists and then choosing
Winners - with only 3 winners, over 100 entrants do not win a prize, but
many of those entries are equally deserving. Take a look!

Our Grand Prize Winner of $4,000 was Khairul Amin Kamarulzaman for his
amazing video “POSTCARD”
- it won both the Grand Prize, and the Viewer’s Choice for most viewer
votes. You can follow Khairul as he implements his Postcard project in
his very
own blog on InternationalStudent.com.

Ask
an International Student Advisor |
 The holiday season is upon us, along
with our new Student
Advisor: Maria Frigge! Maria is an international student advisor at
Troy University in Alabama. Having been an international student
herself, she knows the importance of getting students the information
that they need before and during their time abroad. She is ready to give
the gift of knowledge all month long by answering any questions that
international students swing her way in December.
During
the month of November we were thankful for many things including our Student
Advisor, Heather Sitt, from DigiPen Institute of Technology. Thank
you for your guidance Heather!

Open
Doors Report |
November is the month of international education. Not only is
International Education Week celebrated by many schools across the
nation, it is also when the Open Doors Report comes out with data on
what’s been happening with international and study abroad
students.
The Report found that in the 2012-2013 academic
year, more international and study abroad students went abroad than ever
before! If you are an international student in the US, then you are one
of the 819,644 students that hail from around the world. Up 7% from last
year, the majority of the growth came from China and many of the country
scholarship programs.
