> Student News from Around the World

India and China send the most international students abroad every year. In the USA, Indian students are the largest group (94,563), followed closely by Chinese students (81,127). Large groups of Indian and Chinese students study in many other countries around the world.

Now both countries have begun to focus their attention on attracting international students. This recent GlobalPost article describes efforts to attract international students to India. "A handful of Indian institutions, like Vellore, are making an effort to welcome international students to their campuses. And the government of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, a former professor, has begun to apply India's first comprehensive strategy to woo foreign students. It is part of Singh's vision to make India a global knowledge hub."

I am planning to pursue my masters from uk, currently i am pursuing my b.tech in computers science & engg. from india. I was there with some consultant and he suggested me to do Msc in informaton technology and management from Coventry university.

I would like to know whether the course is good or not as my my main aim is to settle there in the UK. So would this course help me? Also what is the procedure for applying PR after studies. the course is for 1 Yr. and then i would be getting 2 years work permit after that. So can i apply after that.. or what is the procedure.. > Fun Site of the Month

Have you ever had a song stuck in your head, humming it all day and had no idea what it was - or you remember a song and cannot find the name of it? If that is you, or you just want a bit of fun - then check our Midomi.com, our fun site of the month for September. Midomi can either be downloaded as an iPhone application, or you can just browse to it online - and it allows you to hum or sing any song to find out who sang it and the name of the song.

Unlike other services, that will only find the artist and song name if you play the actual song, Midomi allows you to sing or hum. Certainly you can have lots of fun, and most of the time it was very accurate when we were testing it!

> Loans for International Study Available

International Student Loan provides access to student loans for international students in the US, US citizens studying abroad, and US students directly enrolled in approved foreign schools. Despite the ongoing economic crunch, there are still loans available through International Student Loan.

All international students must have a cosigner who is a creditworthy US citizen or permanent resident who has lived in the US for the past two years; and US students often receive better terms if they apply with a cosigner.
