Travel Video Contest 2010 - Winners
Congratulations Caitlin Collom and Watch Out Scotland!
She wrote it, she performed it, and boy did she sing it – congratulations to our 2010 Grand Prize Winner Caitlin Collom! Our judges were very clear in their decision, and we were delighted to welcome such a talented winner. Caitlin’s video, “Watch Out Scotland”, tells the story of her desire to go to the University of Aberdeen for a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies. The narration consists entirely of the song lyrics, which tie perfectly to the video to tell the tale. Well done Caitlin!
The decisions for 2nd, 3rd and 4th place were much more difficult. All the winners had to overcome a strong crop of finalists – Darmadi’s infectious joy in “My Dream, My Journey, My Life”, Jonathan’s easy-going likability in “A Traveler”, Ilya’s “Fairytale” and Susie Satta’s boots, all these and others offered stiff competition to our winners. Who doesn’t want to say bon voyage to Roberto, so he can stop pestering his friends, or to send Ben away on a semester at sea?
But in the end the judges were taken with Candy’s silly humor in “Come on USA” (2nd place – Nattanit Soonthornvech aka Candy); Sixtine’s stop animation in “Stuck in the Atlantic” (3rd place – Sixtine Gurrey); and the beautifully shot “Dream Follower” (4th place – Jiyhun Kim). In 2010 Candy was a student at Assumption University in Thailand, and her video tells of her desire to study at Dominican University of California. Sixtine Gurrey, at the time a junior at the University of Florida, tells of her dual heritage, French and American. With her winnings she planned to return to Strasbourg, France to cement her fluency in French. And Jiyhun Kim’s peaceful video shows her roots in Korea, and her new life in the US.
Congratulations to all of our talented winners and worthy finalists, and thanks to our judges and to all of the contestants! You made the Fifth annual InternationalStudent.com Travel Video Contest one to remember.
