My name is Pedro Garcia, a Hispanic International Politics student from Texas and I decided to study in Amman, Jordan in order to broaden my Arabic language skills and to have a better understanding of Arabic culture. Due to the short amount of time I have been in Jordan, the video only includes clips from the first month of my study abroad experience. Before coming to Amman I visited Egypt and I am also planning on visiting the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Lebanon, Palestine/Israel, and Turkey. My aim is to understand the culture and be able to share a genuine experience with the people back home in the United States in order to eliminate false cultural perceptions from both sides by visiting a variety of countries in the Middle East. Ultimately by winning this competition it would enable me to further my travels deeper into the Middle East and therefore allow me to provide a more authentic firsthand account of the beauty of this region.
