  5. Affordable Tuition Rates: VIU is a non-profit organization committed to supporting students in achieving their dreams by providing low-cost, high-quality education. Through our flexible payment plans, we allow students to make tuition payments in small installments rather than a large, lump sum.

  6. Tuition Scholarships: Tuition scholarships are available for high-potential students. The tuition amount varies between $500 and $4,000 in an academic year. This is just one way VIU pays back to our community.

  7. Job Opportunities: Fairfax, Virginia is the second wealthiest county in the US. Because VIU is located minutes away from Washington, DC, students have great opportunities to gain experience through internships and employment in a variety of industries around the DC-Metropolitan area.

MA in TESOL

Liudmila Ushakova

I live in Moscow but I was born in Siberia where graduated from law school. Since my childhood, I have been dreaming of teaching children. After my graduation I decided to teach instead of being a lawyer. When I moved to Moscow, I started to work as a professor assistant at a university (civil law) and learning French and English as well. By that time, I realized that languages are my true passion. So, when I decided to do my Master’s degree I chose TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in order to make my dreams come true – to become an English teacher to Russian children. The university where I used to work an English teacher suggested VIU to me as a very good international university, that’s why I am here now.

Since my childhood, I have been dreaming of teaching children.

VIU is a really great place to study with a very friendly atmosphere and highly qualified professional and teaching staff. I am really enjoying studying at VIU because it is really interesting and informative and, also, it gives me a great opportunity to become a good specialist in the teaching field.

  • Major: MA in TESOL
  • Study Area: ESL & English Language
  • Graduation Year: 2014

Amine Sakhi

MBA in International Business

Amine Sakhi

I am originally from Morocco. I currently work for a retail company in Texas . I finished my MBA in International Business in December 2012. I chose VIU because it is a hub for international students where you can gain a tacit knowledge of different cultures. VIU has shown tremendous progress over the years. As an incoming student, I transferred my credits from a state university. However, I felt and experienced that VIU’s small class sizes enable the student to easily grasp and understand concepts. To me, VIU is a place for growth, a place where you can achieve your dreams by studying hard to get your degree.

My favorite VIU memory was last year, when the Moroccan soccer team (the Lions) won the VIU soccer tournament! My best advice for prospective students is to try to connect with current students who are currently involved in VIU, and contact the student services office if you have questions. My advice for current students is to stay in touch with each other; it will be invaluable to your career and give you opportunities worldwide.

To me, VIU is a place for growth, a place where you can achieve your dreams.

I would love to see VIU grow and open new dormitories while maintaining the same excellent quality of education. I am truly proud to be a successful VIU alumnus.
