Jennifer Melton from Lake Land College
Jennifer Melton is the Director of International Studies at Lake Land College in Mattoon, Illinois. She has been with the college since Fall 2009. Originally from northeast Ohio, Jennifer came to central Illinois to pursue her education in the Fall of 2005 and fell in love with the area. Central Illinois offers a great small-town environment for studying with the amenities of big cities like Chicago and St. Louis just a short drive away. She loves working with the international student population at Lake Land College, many of whom come from large metropolitan cities, and enjoys showing them all that “small-town America” has to offer.
Lake Land College is a comprehensive community college offering a broad range of programs. Lake Land offers transfer degrees, allowing students to complete their first two years of college-level coursework at Lake Land before continuing their education at a four-year college or university. As a member of the Illinois Articulation Initiative, Lake Land can offer guaranteed transfer to many of the top public and private college and universities in the state, and has also successfully transferred many international students to institutions across the United States. Lake Land also offers certificate programs and technical degrees, which allow students to directly prepare for the workplace. Lake Land College holds many advantages, including low costs, small class sizes, and a great degree of flexibility. For students in one of our many 2+2 transfer programs, Lake Land provides a specialized, low cost alternative to their first two years of academic study.
