Concordia University Irvine (CUI) is a liberal arts university located in the beautiful Southern California city of Irvine with a long-standing history of welcoming and educating international students on its campus. All CUI professors and staff are dedicated to the academic success and social development of each and every student. American students and professors are eager to learn from international students as they share aspects of their own cultures by connecting with students in the cafeteria, classrooms, residence halls, and campus activities as they quickly become part of the CUI community.
Neither required nor recommended
CUI's Pathway Program ensures international students succeed through courses to improve English language proficiency while offering academic and cultural support. This program creates a pathway to undergraduate admission for students who meet all Admissions Requirements for International Students, except for the English level requirement of TOEFL 79 or IELTS 6.5.
The Pathway Program accepts students as undergraduates providing 12 units of intensive English and 3 units of additional undergraduate courses for a period of one semester. Students will be eligible for full undergraduate admission without a TOEFL or IELTS score once they have successfully completed the CUI Pathway Program.
International students seeking admission through the Pathway Program are required to complete the normal undergraduate application process as well as participate in a selection interview. An international student is one who does not hold United States citizenship or lawful permanent residency.
Students must meet minimum entrance requirements of TOEFL 62 and/or IELTS 6.0 and have a 2.8 high school GPA. An SAT or ACT score may be used if students don't have TOEFL or IELTS scores.
However, students who wish to pursue undergraduate studies at CUI and do not meet these requirements may still be eligible for conditional admission. To request more information about CUI's Pathway Program, please complete the form at the top of the page.
The Global Village is one of four Living-Learning Communities at Concordia. This community leads the campus in exploring what “global community” means and what it actually looks like in everyday life. In addition to recruiting local students who are passionate about travel, global issues, world cuisine, and building authentic cross-cultural friendships, the Global Village positions international students to play an important role in shaping the CUI campus experience with their cultural expertise and perspectives.
