Wherever you’re from, there is no doubt that you’ve heard about COVID-19, and that it has changed your life in a significant way. Colleges and universities all across the United States are making steps to adapt to the changes this virus has made and the threat it poses to international education.

Northeastern Junior College will be holding on-campus classes and is currently accepting transfer students who are unable to attend their current institutions. Northeastern Junior College application deadline has been extended to the end of July.

Student/Campus Life

While at Northeastern, you can be involved with over 30 different clubs and organizations which can deepen your college experience and help you grow outside of the classroom. Their Residence Life programs provide opportunities to gain new friendships and meet people from across the United States and around the world.

NJC International Pathway Program

The International Pathway Program (IPP) was created for students allowing them to transfer into a Northeastern Junior College certificate or associate degree program. Once the program has been successfully completed, students will be able to advance into a program of their choice!

IPP provides students who are qualified for college coursework but they are lacking English proficiency. This opportunity provides students with the skills they need to gain English competence, confidence, and gain cultural knowledge to succeed not only academically but socially and professionally.

International Student Support Services

Northeastern offers many services on campus to make sure you have a successful, positive college experience. The Monahan Learning Center offers a wide variety of support services, including free tutoring offered by professional and student tutors. Their full-time International Student Coordinator is also here for international students at every step of their college experience: from visa advising to adjusting to college life. Orientations are offered at the beginning of the school year, as well as workshops and meetings throughout the semester to aid and inform the student.

With a degree in nursing, you will have the opportunity to care for others when they need it most. Northeastern Junior College has been educating nurses since 1964, and has a great track record of producing graduates that go on to excel greatly in the nursing field. Students at Northeastern become leaders in the world of healthcare. The benefits of studying nursing at Northeastern include:

  • Learning in small classes
  • Individualized instruction and attention from professors
  • Making connections at several local hospitals that include medical-surgical units, perioperative departments, emergency departments, intensive care units, therapy departments, infusion therapy departments, women’s health departments, and diagnostic units.
  • Dual Enrollment Programs - Northeastern has agreements with four universities: Metropolitan State University of Denver, University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, University of Northern Colorado, and University of Phoenix that allow students who are working on obtaining their associate degree in nursing to be dually enrolled at the university of their choice. Students who are dually enrolled would work on obtaining their bachelor’s in nursing while attending Northeastern.

All nursing faculty at Northeastern are skillful nurse educators with a wide variety of expertise in the nursing field.

Liberal Arts

If you study liberal arts at Northeastern, you’ll have the satisfaction of nourishing your creative side by exploring the infinite wonders of literature, seeing your creativity come to life by pursuing creative writing, visual art, or any other form of creativity, and study all kinds of philosophies and beliefs from around the world. Northeastern offers Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of General Studies, and Associate of Applied Science degrees.


Agriculture is a standout program at Northeastern. Northeastern offers a number of courses in agriculture education and horticulture, such as agriculture business management, crop and soil science, and animal science. Located in rural Colorado, Northeastern is surrounded by farmlands, so students of agriculture have plenty of opportunities to get hands-on experience outside of the classroom. In 2019, Northeastern Agricultural Program awarded more than $50,000 in scholarships.
