Sitka Start Scholarship
The Sitka Start scholarship is intended for traditional-aged first-year students admitted to a UAS Sitka degree program and residing in Sitka. Typically participation in the Sitka Start program is offered to those students who have graduated secondary/high school within the previous five years. To be eligible, students must be registered in 9 or more credits. A higher amount is awarded to students enrolled in 12 or more credits. The scholarship is renewable each semester that the student is still enrolled in 9 or more credits as long as he/she successfully passed 9 or more credits with a grade of C or higher and remains in satisfactory academic standing with the university.

Applicants for this award must meet the following criteria:
|Other Criteria||Students must enroll in the Humanities 120 course: A Sense of Place - Alaska and Beyond (3cr), which serves as the cohort class in the Fall semester. Sitka Start participants are paired with a faculty or staff mentor, have additional social and recreational activity opportunities, and may still apply for additional scholarships beyond the Sitka Start tuition waivers.|
