What Exactly is Home?

‘Home’ was my tiny brick house on the streets of Bangkok. After two years of studying abroad in the States, my definition of ‘home’ is not as straightforward as it used to be. Thailand is starting to feel more foreign while the States is starting to feel more like home. I always thought that home is essentially a house, but I was wrong. Some elderlies in Japan would commit petty crimes on purpose so that they could spend their days in jail. They feel more at home in prison than their houses. As an international student, I have many friends who also struggle to find a place they can truly call home. I want to forge a deeper understanding of the word 'home' by creating a documentary on Japan's elderly inmates.
