Congratulations to Fiqah Rahman for "In the Light of Covid-19"

2021 Travel Video Contest - Winners

We look forward to celebrating International Education Week every year not only because we love to celebrate international students, educators and advocates but also because we get to announce the winners of our annual Travel Video Contest. In our 15th year of presenting the contest, with the COVID-19 pandemic affecting international education as we know it, we decided to go with a different name- TVC: Life After Lockdown. As always, international students from all over the world were welcomed to participate in this year’s contest but, as a new addition, we also welcomed cultural exchange participants to make video submissions. This time, we asked our participants to adhere to a different theme. Participants could either tell us how COVID-19 impacted their international education or cultural exchange program or tell us about their future plans after COVID-19.

We received 117 eligible entries this year which made choosing only 10 finalists a tough task. Although we could only choose 10 finalists, each of our entrants’ videos touched our hearts so we can only imagine how challenging it was for our judges to pick our final three winners.

Although a difficult task, our judges have conveyed their top picks and we’re pleased to announce the winners:

$4,000 Grand Prize Winner: “In the Light of Covid-19” by Fiqah Rahman Fiqah is a very passionate storyteller from Brunei. Fiqah is pursuing a Masters degree in Documentary Filmmaking at New York University and hopes to diversify the film industry through putting stories about the underrepresented in the spotlight. We can tell that the future holds great things for her!

$500 Second Place Winner: “The Home of an International Student” by Aashna Singh

$250 Third Place Winner: “Dear 2021” by Anna Julia De Camargo Correa

$1,000 Viewers’ Choice Winner: “Story of My Life” by Larissa Silveira

Thank you again to all our entrants and finalists this year. We look forward to receiving your entries next year and hope you'll encourage other students to enter as well!
