Although the primary reason I want to address seizures is personal, one in every 26 people develop epilepsy in their lifetime, meaning that there is a high probability that you or someone close to you has epilepsy or can still develop it. By addressing seizures with computational simulations, I can generate tons of data (which will otherwise take decades in a lab) that can help me one day eradicate seizures in epileptics. What is important for me going forward is to obtain the knowledge and skills in computation, mathematics and chemistry to one day model brain cells and simulate how they interact. Curtin University's Institute for Computation will provide me with the platform to gain some of this knowledge and skills by studying the crystallization of biominerals. This is a project which will make me familiar with many methods and simulation packages. All that I have to do now is apply for a student visa and fly to Perth. This is why I decided to enter the International Student Travel Video Contest.
