I chose to pursue an international education because I believe that there so much knowledge and empathy that can be obtained by meeting people in worlds completely different from my own. As a first-generation college student, an exciting part of this is a 4-week summer program offered by my school that allows undergraduates to go to New Mexico and excavate indigenous histories whilst serving the indigenous communities as well. I would like to be part of this program to learn more about decolonisation, serve communities that have been systemically disenfranchised, and learn other indigenous world views in order to imagine a more socially just future.
